Hornsby Tarmac and Drainage has built up an outstanding reputation; establishing itself in the heart of Derbyshire in 1983 as Hornsby Plant Hire Ltd. Since then we have been trading successfully for over thirty years throughout Derbyshire, East Staffordshire and North West Leicestershire. Our family run company has built up a wide client base. Mostly acquired through recommendations of past work that was seen to out shine competition.
When Mr John Hornsby, owner of Hornsby Plant Hire Ltd decided it was time to (semi) retire in June 2017 his eldest son, Ian Hornsby took over the business in its entirety under the new company name of Hornsby Ltd. Going forward the team are continuing to deliver the high standards of workmanship that our customers have come to expect; take a look at our Gallery to see for yourself.

Our friendly team of staff take great pride in completing their work to the highest of standards. They specialise in looking for ways to carry out work within a client’s budget. We will never cut corners, regardless of the size or nature of the job.
We pride ourselves on providing an honest, reliable and expert service to all of our customers whether it be a simple re-design of a drive way or the full construction of a car park. In addition, we are fully registered and compliant under the National Roads and Street Works Act 1991 and hold public liability cover of £5 million. Hornsby Ltd is also registered with the Environmental Agency as a licensed waste carrier.
Due to our commitment to being one of the best in the business; our staff are fully trained to CITB standard and hold CTA / CPCS health and safety certification for the safe operation of plant & machinery.
We are also proud to say that we’ve carried out work for the likes of Derbyshire County Council and the NHS.
